Description
Step right up and take a look at this "Winged Lady"! A real amazing survivor indeed! A Rock Solid Beauty Sporting 78,000 Actual Miles that is equipped with her ORIGINAL 348 4bbl V8, Factory POWER Steering and Brakes! Rare Matching # Power, Indeed! Comes with a letter of documentation from the original owner’s family attesting to its mileage, and place of residence!
Great Solid and Rust Free TWO Owner History! She was purchased brand new, by the original owner, in the fall of 1960 from Larry Barnes Chevrolet in Boise, Idaho. She has lived her entire life in Boise, Idaho! The Dry & Wonderful High Desert of Southwest Idaho! She slept in the same garage on North 28th St. – for over 43 years, until the spring of 2003, when she was sold to its current owner who has tended to some of her desires! What a Lady! One that you can Enjoy! Read On!
Under the hood she was pretty much left alone! The Real Thing! UN-MOLESTED! Her engine has never been rebuilt; in fact it’s never had the heads off! It runs perfectly, and starts on the first turn every time. It does not smoke or burn oil! Smooth! Sporting the original 4bbl Carburetor that has just been rebuilt! The original generator even resides and works perfectly. Pristine originality right down to just about every visible nut and bolt! MATCHING NUMBER'S!! Power transfer wise, the infamous and ever temperamental TurboGlyde Automatic Transmission – was replaced with a fresh and ever dependable late model Turbo 350 Hydramatic! Have No Fear the original TurboGlyde transmission was retained for the purist and will be included with the car!
On the underside the exhaust was updated with a New Front to Rear DUAL system that includes Flowmaster Turbo Mufflers! She now produces a low powerful burble that’s pleasing to everyone that hears it! It does not have that loud crackle that hot rods have! Subtle Early Horsepower Sound! Nice! All of the Brakes were renewed for safety and she stops great!! To Finish it off she was treated to period correct Dayton-type authentic wire wheels wrapped in Thin Whitewall Radial Rubber! Looking Good and Riding Right!
To finish her off the outside was treated to a NEW Red finish that looks spectacular! Some of the Nose stainless trim was freshened to regain her original beauty! Her interior was gussied up with period correct reproduction threads and carpet! It comes with the original owner’s manual and the original jack is in the trunk! The trunk has the original floor mat (although somewhat discolored by time). Also, included with the car will be the original wheels, and original Impala wheel covers WOW!
In Closing, the current owner performed all of the cosmetic and mechanical restoration work stated above in 2003 with the intent of keeping her but things have changed and you WIN! Cars like this do not come along too often and don't think too long. Look below for more details and please take the time to look at the sub-pages of pictures
Known Items: In the words of the Owner: "This car does not run or drive like a 1960 vehicle. It starts, runs, drives, and stops like a modern car. It’s very comfortable and quiet running! It could be driven anywhere at anytime for probably as far as you’d care to drive." "Everything else is in excellent working condition".
My Observations with help from the Honest Owner: I sold this Lady from the first owner to the second owner and personally support it's history! I saw her before and have posted a picture from the previous ad on the bottom of both sub-pages! A Fresh and Professional second refinish (1995 & 2003) of above average quality. Very Shiny! Neither refinish was the original color (Both Red) Original Silver/Gray! The jambs and trunk were correctly done the second time around. Good Color Change! A good straight body with ZERO signs of any rust ever and all panels appear original. The Chrome and Stainless is exceptional!! The interior is like new in the original colors Red/Wht with the exception of a few minor items. The original padded dash, provided by the factory, cracked over the years and the original owner’s son-in-law replaced the padding with new padding. The job is not of professional quality and it’s one of the things that should be finished properly. Please Note: The padded dash was an option in 1960, and most cars were delivered without the padded dash option. Therefore, the dash under the padding is the original steel dash that most 1960s had. The logical step would be to remove the padding and refinish the dash metal that’s under the padding. Also, the steering wheel paint has rubbed off on the rim, and should be repainted. The current owner has simply run out of time to finish these last few details. The radio is the original push-button radio that came with the car, but it no longer works. It is, however, repairable. The cigarette lighter is original, but it does not work. The windshield is near new and the rest of the glass is Great! Not New and Not Perfect but a wonderful Survivor that looks good and drives Great! Let the pictures tell the rest of the story!
