Description
Have you been looking for a cute fair weather classic roadster that you can enjoy and drive? One that stands out from the crowd with unmistakable style? If so, you should take the time to stop and consider this "Florida Native"! Yep. that's right, her original destination when new was the Jacksonville district sales office and still residing in sunny Tampa, Florida! Let's get on with the rest of the story, Paul Harvey!!
Purchased by the current owner from a well known Florida T-Bird Collector in 1997 with 88,000 actual miles! Intended to be a toy to enjoy, for a few years she did just that! Trips to the beach, nights on the town and occasional commutes to work! About 2 years ago it was decided that this solid Florida Gal needed a bit of refreshment! Her original body was stripped to bare metal (see sub-page 3), massaged, smoothed and treated to her original sexy "K code" Fiesta Red from firewall to door jamb! The bumpers were re-plated while the rest of the trim was left to it's original character! She looks great!
During the cosmetic restoration the original matching # "P" code 312 4V engine bay was treated to a complete detail along with needed mechanical items. The original carb and air filter were substituted for a more dependable Edelbrock AFB combination! Yes, the original air/fuel components were retained and are included with the sale! Nicely equipped with factory Automatic Transmission, Power Steering and Power Brakes! Now resting @ 103K actual miles! The perfect driver!
The soft top rack was completely rebuilt along with new correct white canvas! There is no hard top but heck who needs one in sunny Florida? The dash paint was stripped and correctly refinished! The correct "XB" Red/White interior/carpet were also restored with reproduction materials. Nice factory options include, Continental Spare, working Town and Country Radio and Power Windows!
In closing, cute little roadsters with original character such as this are a pleasure to own! Why? just that, drive and enjoy! Let's finish with a little history! This particular early body style was built only 3 years (55,56,57), 1956 was the lowest production year with only 15,631 built! First year production (1955) 16,155 and the final year (1957) ended @ 21,380. The base price on this lady brand spanking new was a modest $3,408! Let the 4 web-pages of detailed pictures and below known items tell the rest of the story! BUY NOW!! $INQUIRE! EASY FINANCING GOOD LUCK!!!!
Known Items: This is a Solid Florida survivor with 103,000 actual miles. The 2 year young cosmetic exterior refinish is of professional quality with good prep, straight body lines and a deep shiny finish! During the exterior restoration NO body panel replacements and/or excess rust were noted, any common minor spots were correctly repaired. The undercarriage is of original 103K mile driver quality, solid trunk and floor pans with a small area of common corrosion noted from a possible previous damp carpet on the drivers side pedal height lower exterior firewall (see photo sub page 2 circled areas). The continental kit tire ring suffered a lower left scratch/scuff during assembly and will need some adjustment to be perfect (see sub page 1 circled area) The windshield, interior and misc. trim does show some common age/pitting (see sub page 1), nothing that detracts from her beauty and original character but there. Everything works with the exception of the Heater and Horn. The original 103K mile power-train is in place and it is unknown if it has ever been rebuilt but runs great, does not miss and shifts fine. Common oil seepage is noted but No excess leaks were noted during inspection. The brakes and suspension operate as designed with expected maintenance over the years, drives like a 1956 vehicle. A complete set of 2 piece factory wire wheel covers are included (see trunk shot on sub-pages). Simple, As I always say, NOT New and NOT Perfect (none are) but a solid SWEET Driver that you will enjoy driving and showing off! Again, Let the 4 web-pages of detailed pictures tell the rest of the story, GOOD DAY, Paul Harvey!!
