1940 Ford V8 Deluxe Two Door Convertible

Ok, by now you have had a chance to view the pictures of this Ol' Forty Ford Convertible! Its getting harder and harder to find decent examples of these Ol' lady's that are not rust buckets and yet still very affordable! You know, one's that carry good honest character and will work as a driver just the way they are while you take it to the next level? Be it to restore to original and/or a candidate for a High Zoot Street Rod! Well, I believe that's what we have here! Read on for more!! 

This is a good solid and honest 40 Ford Deluxe Convertible Stocker of Driver quality! Powered by an original style Flathead power-train hooked to a stock transmission and rear end. Starts instantly without smoke, purrs like a kitten and gets down the road just as you would expect! A new ignition coil assembly has been installed and the gas tank has been flushed. The clutch is solid and smooth with no known issues. The drum juice brakes work as designed and the factory steel rims have newer radial tires. Great Turn Key Driver!

Overall she looks good from a reasonable distance. The floor pans are super solid, yes even the tool well area! The doors shut solid and the bottoms are as dry as a bone. I lifted the floor pads, they were dry, solid and I took sample pictures for your review. It's running boards are very solid but the rubber will need replaced. All chrome/stainless is in place, usable and very restorable, including front bumper guards/bumperettes. All glass is good with no cracks with the exception of some minor fog/separation at the bottom few inches of the drivers window. The deck lid has a minor rust spot at the bottom below the latch on the inside and outside, not sure why but possibly a replacement from another car at one time in it's life. It's paint is estimated at 10-15 years old and of amateur quality with multiple nicks/scuffs. The body lines are straight with No signs of any excess bodywork and/or bondo! Great Body! It is missing it's radio antenna as noted by the mounting whole in the top center of the windshield. The POWER convertible top is newer with a wear spot in the rear window insert where it rubbed with the top down (Not part of the top itself) and dinky spot on the side where it rubbed against a body spot (see-subpage). The bows are great and the power tops works slowly but I believe they all did. (Please see sub-page for detailed areas) Let's move on to the interior!

Hop inside to a completely refinished dash, steering column and trim areas of very good quality. The top of the driver door trim was scuffed and touched up with primer and should be easy to match. All gauges were removed, tested and in good working order including the clock. Yes, even the horn works!  The seating surfaces are vintage leather, amazingly soft with no excess age cracking, tears or wear. Very acceptable for use or re-dye. The floor mats are original style rubber with expected age. Very Good Driver Interior!
